Harrison Park

Harrison Park was located approximately one mile south of Blakeslee Corners on Route 115, and operated on both sides of the highway. Open from around 1930 to the 1950s, the park was reported to have a carousel, miniature railroad, skating rink, dining hall, concession stands, and playground equipment.

For July 4, 1930, the park advertised the Wes Georgian Orchestra, playing modern dance music. For Memorial Day in 1931, the park featured clay pigeon shooting and a baseball double header with the Blakeslee Giants first playing the Philadelphia Marines and later against Jack Tarutis and Merchants. The ad also referred to the park as ‘the Pocono’s beauty spot.’

The park was also known as Tobey’s in its later years. It may have met its end in 1954 after Hurricane Hazel, or the snowfalls from the following winter.

It is interesting to note that this park’s history is very similar to that of Toby Park, located just several miles away.
