According to several reader emails, the site was likely not an amusement park, but rather a popular picnic grove and swimming location. Rumbles reportedly had a large concrete swimming pool, possibly with fresh water from a nearby creek, diverted through a series of metal troughs.
The park also had picnic facilities, concession stands, and a large playground. A dance hall may also have existed.
Cabins located across the road were available for rent, according to one reader, and may have been owned by the same family that operated the park.
The park was likely open by the 1920s or 1930s, and may have closed anywhere from the late 1940s to the 1960s.
A few readers reported remnants of the park still exist, including the pool; much of the area is overgrown from years of neglect.
